Every year I make a few different resolutions. One is always financial, one mental, and one physical. I'm going to keep the first two resolutions private this year, but for my physical resolution I decided to focus on my hair! Mainly because I'm getting MARRIED THIS YEAR (holy.cow.) and I want long, healthy, bohemian, mermaid hair for the wedding.

1. The obvious one: continue to avoid heat tools!
My hair resolution last year was to avoid heat tools at all costs. I started tying my hair up daily for work, and using My Curlifornia to create a beachy style for photo shoots. The result was mindblowing! My hair started growing thicker and faster (my hair dresser pointed it out to me).
2. Detangle hair slowly:
Picture it: you've been working hard with your hair tied up. You're tired and a bit stressed, so when you go to pull out your hair tie, you aggressively tug against it's resistance. Suddenly, you're left with a hair tie covered in hair strands you just yanked out of your scalp. Congrats.
I'm guilty of yanking out my hair ties after long days, windy jeep rides, workouts, and more. That's why this hair resolution is the second one on my list!
3. Don't fall asleep with wet hair:
When you sleep on wet hair you're only going to end up with a frizzy mess in the morning. Using hair ties and other products can also lead to breakage. I'm going to make a conscious effort to let my hair dry before crashing each night.
4. Never blow dry sopping wet hair:
This year I'm making an effort to not use my blow dryer at all, especially not when my hair is sopping wet.
Now some of you are probably wondering: What about resolution number 3?? You can't fall asleep with wet hair OR blow dry it? The answer is: nope! Instead, use a super absorbent towel like the Large and Luxurious towel from Curlifornia. It absorbs moisture quickly, leaving hair dry and frizz free quicker than an average bath towel.
5. Drink water and eat plenty of fruits and veggies
A healthy body leads to healthy hair! I'm using an app to track my meals and water intake each day to ensure I get the nutrients my body and hair need to be strong!
6. Specifically eat more salmon, eggs, and sweet potatoes.
Sweet Potatoes give your body Vitamin A while salmon gives it omega-3s. Eggs give your hair a variety of minerals it needs to grow healthy as well. I'm trying to meal plan for the first time (ever) to try and incorporate these specific foods into my diet more regularly.
Because working out gives you endorphins... and endorphins make you... HAPPY!! And Happy people don't get stressed out and loose their hair. They just don't.
8. Stay happy and stress free!
Use exercise and other personal methods to keep yourself happy and stress free. Stress will lead to hair loss, so take the time to organize your obligations and create a harmonious life for yourself. Your mermaid hair will thank you later.
