There's nothing quite like a sunrise... On our last day at the Grand Canyon, S and I woke up at 4 am to watch the sun fill the canyon with light first hand. We waited in the freezing 22 degree temp for twenty five minutes for a bus before almost giving up. We then had to switch bus routes about halfway to the hiking trail we were headed to (meaning we had to wait outside int he cold again...). By the time we reached the rim, the temperature had dropped even more. Our hike then took us down a narrow path with steep drops on either side. Vertigo set in as the wind picked up, and S and I nervously shuffled to the large rock platform in front of us.
The excursion was more than worth it as soon as we reached the platform however. On one side, a yellow haze had started to reflect off of the canyon's walls, while on the other the canyon appeared reddish brown with a purple haze layering it. It was stunning to say the least, and ever changing as the sun slowly rose over the horizon.
