This Halloween I'm doing a series based on all the witches that inspired my halloween costumes growing up. This first look was based on the beautiful muppet haired witch: Sukie from Witches of Eastwick. Michelle Pfeiffer plays the nervous mother of six who realizes that she and her two best friends (Cher and Sara Shandon) are witches. The movie is the perfect mixture of spooky suspense and cheesy chick flick; a must watch in October.
Sukie starts out the movie with straight hair and an overly anxious (and annoyed) personality. Overtime she becomes seduced by a mysterious stranger (Jack Nicholson) and learns to relax. As soon as she realizes she's a witch her hair explodes into a blonde mess of curls. I ended up covering my hair with a hood for this look, but underneath was a mop of muppet hair inspired by Sukie. To get soft curls with a heavier feel (and more volume) I used coconut oil as a mask for three days in a row and let it air dry after washing the oil out.
For my outfit I choose a long black maxi dress from Brandy Melville. While pleated maxi's are currently more in style, every and all maxi's are being welcomed back into this season's trends. A straight black maxi like this one is perfect for halloween season. Think Morticia Adams... or Sukie! Sukie spends most of the movie in heavy, ankle length skirts and dresses and boxy tops.
My good friend Angel's home in Hollywood was the perfect back drop for the shoot. The movie starts off with the three best friends joining together for their weekly "girls night in" at Alexandra's home... which looks very similar to Angel's. Julie's character is also a music teacher, and Angel's place has musical instruments in all corners of the house! Not to mention she's the brilliant photographer behind all of the photo's in the Halloween Witch series.
