I've been a huge fan of Spell & the Gypsy collective for almost six years now. During that time, I've seen the rise and fall of a variety of Spell hashtags on instagram, but none of them have been as important as #vintagespell.
In the last few years, brands have benefitted from instagram users' craving to be reposted. Brands and stores reward followers who are constantly buying new items by reblogging their images to the brands' instagram account: giving the buyer a bigger audience on instagram.
If followers want brands to repost their image, they have to be wearing something that's still for sale on their sites. Otherwise, the brand has no use for the image; there's nothing for them to link back to. Then, all the brand has to do is add a few more collections to their annual rotations and suddenly a sort of frenzy amongst the followers starts as people fight over the newest styles. This cycle is pushing users to buy clothes more frequently than they used to, as well as pushing brands to pump out new collections at a rapid pace (example: Summer, High summer collections, etc.).
The "Vintage Spell" hashtag is the first hashtag I've seen that strives to calm the consumption frenzy. In fact, it encourages users to do the exact opposite. Spell fans use #vintagespell to share images of themselves in Spell items they've had for multiple years. Now, I personally wouldn't consider any Spell pieces to be "vintage" just yet, but the hashtag has already promoted positive changes within the instagram and Spell communities. Fall florals are my favorite trend this season! Personally, I love flowers, but am not the biggest fan of Spring time. It's probably my allergies and humid hair problems...
Harvest colored floral patterns though? Right up my alley! That's why I've been dying over the new For Love and Lemons fall collection. Not only does it feel like a Marie Antoinette version of Westworld, it has fall colored floral patterns galore and velvet touches everywhere (another favorite fall trend)!

Today (Thursday) will be the fourth full day of our engagement! S proposed midday on Sunday pretty much as soon as we checked into the Saguaro in Palm Springs! The full story will be shared in full later on, but for now we're blissfully happy to be engaged and have no plans to leave cloud nine (ever!!).
While we're both very much "people persons", I've always wanted a "private" proposal where we weren't surrounded by family and friends. S gave me just that by proposing at the very start of our three day vacation together; leaving us the rest of the trip to enjoy each other's company as fiancé and fiancé for the first time.
I recently challenged myself to not online shop for a full month, just to see if I could do it. I met the challenge... which felt great ...but also slowed things down here at Kk Antoinette.com!
I'm happy to say I'm back from my shopping hiatus, my cross country road trip, my Santa Cruz trip, and my High Sierras trip *whew*, and am back to a more routine blogging schedule.
My first post back features the newest Spell Print: Etienne. It's the loveliest print I've honestly ever seen; with soft pastels and ruffle details that reminded me instantly of Sofia Coppola's take on Marie Antoinette. Click "read more" to see more images and shop this look!
Yesterday was the second annual Mermaids Day meet up at Disneyland! Similar to Dapper Day, Mermaids Day is a meet and greet event hosted by Sweet Siren & Friends (NOT Disneyland!). Mermaids from near and far came to the park in their sparkliest get ups to participate in raffles, contests, group rides and more!
Unfortunately, I was so set on dying my hair pink... that I ended up arriving a bit late! I missed the first two meet ups and then I randomly had the opportunity to see an old friend... so I ended up seeing her instead of meeting fellow mermaids! Next year I'll meet up with you guys!!
