I should have seen it coming. After florals managed to transform into a fall pattern, it looks as though butterflies have followed them all the way onto the runway. I first saw the Valentino dress… sheer black fabric delicately draped over a black underline with multicolored butterfly cut outs strategically placed all over the dress. The butterfly cut outs are each their own unique mix of colors. Silver, blue, red, gold and green mix together magically against the sheer black fabric underneath.
Then came the Givenchy dress. While less colorful, the neutral brown hues effortlessly make the transition into fall. The piece de resistance however, is the large butterfly perfectly placed in a faux cut out on the sleeve.
Both designers designed more than just one butterfly piece, but the dresses above are hands down my favorite. Click through the slideshows to see more of their butterfly designs (Valentino is the first slideshow, Givenchy is the second).
If you're into the butterfly print but don't want all of your money to disappear, check out the butterfly print bikini below. Dreamy blue hues that belong by the beach are available on super sale here.
How do you feel about flowers and butterfly patterns for fall? With the weather still being over 80 degrees, maybe more spring prints will pop up this fall.
