As a lot of you already know, I'm equally obsessed with the ocean as I am with fashion (a quick peek at my insta or tumblr account will prove this). My own intsta feed is full of underwater shots of crochet bikinis and wildlife, which is how I stumbled upon the stunning photography of Stella Crick.
Stella is a freelance photographer who hails from Wollongong, Australia and specializes in capturing the salty wonderland hiding under the sea. I first saw her work for From Z Earth jewelry; a glossy look book of clear water, beautiful shells, and bikinis from She Made Me.
I was hooked.
I was fortunate enough to interview Stella last weekend, as well as share her photographs from the From Z Earth look book. Check out the interview and images below, then be sure to visit her website for endless underwater beauty at StellaCrick.com and follow her instagram @stellacrick.

Kk Antoinette: How long have you been interested in photography?
Stella Crick: I have always been encouraged and supported by my family from a young age to live a creative life. I actually remember the day I found my love for photography… I was a little girl and had picked up the family camera to go take some pictures at the beach in front of my house. From that day I was hooked and since then my passion and skills have grown. I am lucky enough that I can now call it a job.
KA: How long does it usually take to get a perfect underwater shot? Hours? A few days? Weeks?
SC: It all depends. Some sessions I will look at the photos and think that they all suck, other days I feel like I have … tons of good shots. For me, the ideal formula for getting a good underwater shot is; sunshine, clear water, a confident underwater model and a positive/relaxed attitude.
KA: Both your landscape and portrait shots are unbelievably stunning. Do you have a preference between taking landscape shots or working with a model?
SC: . They both have ups and downs. Landscapes are great because you don't have to rely on anyone, however I'm the kind of person that loves taking portraits so I also love working with models (though sometimes models can be hard work).
KA: Australia seems to be the perfect place for your ideal formula. Do you find yourself traveling much for different projects? Or is most of your work done locally in Australia?
SC: I am located in a small coastal town on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. I take a lot of my photographs within the local area but also travel up and down the coast in search of new locations and for photographic work. I have recently been getting work overseas and a few months ago I had the opportunity to do a photo shoot on the Hawaiian island of Oahu where I photographed for Sirensong Wetsuits.
KA: You spend so much time in salt water! Have you found the perfect swim gear?
SC: I can't go a day without Kokoh bikinis and DaFin flippers on my feet.
KA: Do you have any favorite beauty products to recommend for girls who enjoy salt, sand, and sun as much as you do?
SC: To be honest I avoid makeup as it only gives me acne, my secret is saltwater! It naturally clears my skin and keeps it healthy. For girls like me who spend a lot of time in the sun at the beach and in the water, its really important that I protect my skin with plenty of sunscreen and zinc. My favorite sun cover is is Ella Bache!
