Personalized Christmas trees… this started as a family tradition with my Grandmother. When a grandchild reached the age of 6 they were invited to spend the afternoon making there own personalized Christmas tree (and eating way too many cookies).
Grandma would tell us to bring over any "treasures" that no longer had a home. For me that meant a heap of plastic Lisa Frank jewelry, stretch chokers from penny games, and glow in the dark beads that had fallen off hemp bracelets. You can imagine what the tree looked like after mixing that lot of treasures with a six year old and a glue gun…. Thankfully my Grandmother shared some of her own treasures: broken antique bracelets, pearl earrings that were missing their match, and brooches she had inherited but never wore. She also always made sure the tree holder looked elegant and timeless, and took the time to explain how to organize random treasures into a meaningful design.
Having Christmas decorations that were personalized was always something that I cherished. My Grandmother and I decided to make a second tree that I wanted to share with you all! This time the Lisa Frank jewels were replaced by Sea Shells xo
