After Rihanna bared it all in her CFDA dress designed by Adam Selman , the fashion world seems to have jumped away from the nearly-nude trend. Gucci, D&G, Zac Posen, Roberto Cavalli and more are churning out floor length maxi gowns with long sleeves (and no surprise cutouts). The trend looks elegant, glamorous, and effortless (a nude shoe is all you need, no jewelry required).
Unfortunately it's 90 degrees outside and I also lack model length gams.
Personally I think the totally covered modest look is a flawless one, but not always the most practical. When I'm boutique shopping around downtown LA, catching a bite by the beach, or meeting friends for drinks, I want to feel as carefree as my dress. I want to feel the sun on my skin this summer! I want to dance around happily, and I don't want to worry about sweat in all the wrong places.
That's why I'm opting for low backs and short skirts. See some of my favorite options below… remember to click on the image to shop the look!
Anna might be choosing Modest Maxi's, but I'm staying short and sweet this summer (maxi skirts excluded).
