It's official: the crop top trend is here to stay. The only thing disappearing is the fabric.
When we first saw crop tops creeping back onto the runway, they resembled the more baggy "spice girls" esque crop tops. They looked more like you borrowed your little brother's skater Tee than anything else. As time goes on however, the crop top has become more refined and structured. The new crop top cut is the "Criss cross" crop tops, where two pieces of fabric cross over each other, showing off even more skin than before.

While most online retailers are pairing their criss crop tops with high waisted skirts (totally cute), they can also be easily toned down for a casual day with baggy boyfriend jeans. If you're worried about showing too much skin (for whatever reason), throw on a maxi skirt in a similar color (keep the maxi in a solid color).
You can also opt for crop tops that are "tiered" like the one below. These tops give you the look of the criss crop while still covering up more skin. Can I also add the top below resembles the Chanel dress Cara just wore to Poppy's first wedding!
For those of you looking to show even MORE skin (hey, you worked hard for that summer body!) check out the top I'm lusting after from Nasty Gal:
I can also imagine the top strap being pulled up for a "criss crop halter" look. Ooooh…
