I'm currently sitting at my desk drinking my second cup of coffee (except my mug is so big it's realistically my 4th cup... or 5th). To say I'm a coffee lover would be an understatement. I don't need milk, raw sugar or CBD oil to make my ideal daily cup of coffee: I simply need coffee.
Black, caffeine filled, coffee. Which is why I've tried it out as a beauty routine as well.
Frank body scrub blew my mind four years ago when I first tried their plain coffee scrub. I was using it to help diminish old scars, fight my stress/running induced acne, and treat some stretch marks on my thighs. I was curious if all of this miracle cure actually worked, and was pleasantly surprised! You can read all about my original experience by clicking here!
The scrub was sold for under $15 and US residents got free shipping. The only downsides were the bag was NOT waterproof (this has changed!!) and made a huge mess (this has not changed). The top two images are from my post in 2014, the bottom two are from my insta-review last month.
I had been using Frank on and off for a few years but ultimately I stopped ordering it because the bag would deteriorate before I finished using the product and my husband (then bf) kept complaining about the mess in our shower. It had been well over a year when I got an email asking if I would try out their products and do a review on instagram. Curious to test out their new products, I accepted. Not only was I excited to see the bags were now WATERPROOF, but I also completely fell in love with their Express-o Scrub.
Below is a Frank-review of their current Coffee Scrub, Express-o Scrub, and limited edition "Green Tease" Green Tea Scrub. See which scrub is right for you!
The Original Coffee Scrub
Pros: Personally, this scrub has helped me with acne from both stress and long distance running, it has gotten rid of some scars and diminished others, and it's reduced the stretch marks I've gotten on my legs. Other's have claimed its helped their cellulite, varicose veins, and eczema. It's the scrub that made the company a huge success.
The new bag is now WATERPROOF which is a huge upgrade and it's still vegan and cruelty free!
It also smells like coffee which will wake up your brain; huge plus for my fellow am shower-ers.
Cons: This scrub is pretty much loose ground coffee bits; it will leave a mess in your shower. When you pull it out of the bag, first pat it onto your skin, and even when you wash it off, bits will fall off and go all over your shower. Accept it and plan on spending a few extra min rinsing off your shower before you step out.
The loose bits that get all over your shower could also end up in your hair if your not careful, and ... well... to be Frank... it can get in your private areas too. Just like after a day at the beach, some extra rinsing in certain areas is advised.
This scrub is the best at diminishing stretch marks, scars, cellulite etc. That means it's NOT the best for sensitive skin. I try to use the expresso scrub on my face now because it isn't as harsh.
Best used for: Hey, there's a reason this bag has a booty on it. This scrub is best for your bum, legs, arms, and shoulders. If you're only planning on buying one scrub GET THIS ONE and just use it sparingly on sensitive skin areas.
The Express-o Scrub
Pros: THIS SCRUB DOESN'T LEAVE A MESS! When I first used it I had to take a double take of my shower after because it was still clean! I had gotten so used to rinsing off my shower after using the original scrub I assumed this scrub would leave a mess as well. I was wrong.
This scrub works on scars and marks but not as aggressively as the original scrub (better for sensitive skin). It's also vegan, cruelty free and smells like vanilla heaven. It will leave your skin smooth, hydrated, and smelling lovely.
Cons: I can't think of any except it doesn't work as well as the original scrub at removing stretch marks/scars/acne etc.
Best used for: Sensitive skin types. I use the original scrub on my body and the express-o scrub on my face since it's more sensitive. It's also best if you want to avoid messy showers.
The Green Tease Green Tea scrub
Pros: It's another NO MESS scrub that smells amazing. It fades scars and marks, but isn't as aggressive (rough) on your skin. After using this scrub, my skin is soft, hydrated, smooth... and my shower isn't completely destroyed. Just like the other two scrubs, this one is also vegan.
It also fights free radicals... don't worry I googled it for you. Free radicals CAN destroy important cells in your body, like proteins and lipids.
Lastly, this scrub comes with a punny tarot card collectible. Both babes who enjoy tarot and those who roll their eyes at it will enjoy the tarot cards hidden within. There are five total to collect.
Cons: It's supposed to be a green tea scrub but it doesn't smell like green tea. At all. S says it smells like a bran muffin: Just a little bit of sugar but overall healthy and good for you. It doesn't smell bad at all, but don't get it if you're looking for a green tea smell.
Not a vegan scrub (but still cruelty free).
Best used for: Sensitive skin. This scrub exfoliates and hydrates similarly to Express-o scrub but is limited edition!
